I’m a clothing maker and I’ve been sewing and upcycling for over 25 years.
I remember when I thought I could use my sewing machine to create images with thread on fabric.
At that time I had an industrial straight stitch Juki.
Oh I struggled so much at first! I didn’t know anything about isolating feed dogs or switching the presser foot.
I’d just stitch around trying to make lines.
Eventually I learned about free motion stitching on my domestic machine but without anyone to guide me, it wasn’t easy!
My machine act up, skipping stitches, thread bunching up, tension issues and all sorts of struggles ugh!
More than anything, I remember how much time I spent trying to figure it out, watching YouTube videos with no one to ask when I got stuck.
As you probably noticed I’m obsessed with FME and after practicing a lot, that became my passion. And my job.
Yes! I now make a living from free motion embroidery!
A couple years ago I started teaching others and now I’m launching this new community so those who want to skip the struggles and master FME can finally get there!

Will this show me exactly how to set up my machine for free motion embroidery?
Yes. There’s a dedicated training that walks you through setup in a way that’s simple and clear. I know that part can be confusing, so we’ll walk through it together.

What if I’m not good at drawing?
You don’t need to be. A lot of people say this, and I get it! I used to think the same. But free motion embroidery isn’t about being a trained artist. It’s about expression, texture, and movement. I’ll guide you with easy designs, shapes you can trace, and exercises to build your confidence.
I’m not sure if my machine can do this — should I still join?
If your machine can sew a straight stitch, there’s a good chance it can work. I’ll show you how to check for compatibility and what to do if your machine is a little different.
Do I get access to everything right away?
I’ve never done this before — will I be lost?
No. This is for beginners. You’ll get help starting from zero, and you can go at your own pace. No pressure, no need to be perfect.
Do I need fancy tools or expensive equipment?
Nope. Just a regular sewing machine, thread, fabric, and a couple of low-cost accessories. I’ll show you exactly what you need.
Will this help me if I already know how to do a little free motion stitching?
Yes. You’ll learn a different style of FME that mimics hand embroidery and includes techniques like applique and thread painting. There’s always more to explore.
